Description : Santiago de Chile, o simplemente Santiago, es la capital y principal núcleo urbano de Chile. El área metropolitana que forma es denominada también Gran Santiago y corresponde asimismo a la capital de la Región Metropolitana de Santiago.

Aunque es posible concebirla como una única gran ciudad, Santiago no constituye una sola unidad administrativa, sino por el contrario forma parte del territorio de 37 comunas, de las cuales 26 de estas se encuentran completamente dentro del radio urbano y 11 con alguna parte fuera de él. La mayor parte de la metrópolis se encuentra dentro de la Provincia de Santiago, con algunos sectores dentro de las provincias de Maipo, Cordillera y Talagante.
